Located near the intersection of US 85 and CO 14, Ault is a small town with views of the Rocky Mountain's Front Range. The town sits near the western edge of the prairie lands of eastern Colorado which helped it earn the nickname the "Gateway to the Pawnee Grasslands". Ault offers antique stores and restaurants along the tree lined streets of the town. At the time of the 2000 U.S. Census the population was 1,432. In 1897 the town was named after Alexander Ault, a nearby resident that helped the town avert financial disaster by purchasing the entire grain harvest during a time of hardship for the area. Ault's name offers a fitting acronym for "A Unique Little Town".
